  Job Summary
 

UName IT Solutions is seeking an Independent Consultant on an as needed basis. We have been expanding so rapidly that we need to have someone available to handle the overages. Consultant will provide in-person, phone and e-mail support to end-users and administrators of UName IT Solutions customers. We are seeking a qualified consultants who are both technically proficient and offers outstanding customer service. We believe proactively solving problems and recommending preventative options to head off future problems.

Location: Northern California (Home-based, virtual office infrastructure)

       
  Responsibilities
    Provide technical support to users
    Install, set up and configure network devices (Firewall, Routers, Switches, Wireless)
    Install, set up and configure Windows Servers
    Configure and deploy Windows 2000 and Windows XP workstation environments
    Troubleshoot software issues quickly and effectively (Windows 2000/XP and Windows 2000/2003 Server)
    Troubleshoot hardware issues quickly and effectively (DELL, IBM and HP/Compaq Desktop/Laptop/Server hardware)
    Create and update documentation
    Make changes to phones and voicemail
    Emergency On-Call Support Required
       
  Minimum Qualifications
    4+ years technical experience
    2+ years Independent Consulting
    Experience consulting for small to medium size businesses
    Experience supporting Windows 2000 & XP desktops
    Experience with Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server, Active Directory
    Experience with Microsoft Exchange and SQL
    Experience with Firewalls, Routers, and VPN
    Experience with Backup Solutions (Veritas and ArcServe)
    Experience with project management
    Familiarity with all Microsoft desktop applications
    Familiarity with Cabling, CAT5 Ethernet, and Telephone
    Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff in difficult or conflictive situations
    Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively
    Ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep abreast of the latest technological advances
    Proficient with online and other resources for software and hardware research and troubleshooting
    Knowledge of Linux Servers and/or Apple desktops
    Emergency On Call Required
    Travel Required - Must be able to travel around Bay Area, if not the state. Must have reliable transportation with valid registration and insurance.
