UName IT Solutions is seeking a fulltime Desktop Support Engineer: |
| |
|
 |
End user technical support for Microsoft Office 2000, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Outlook/Exchange, Internet Explorer, Visio, and select proprietary applications. |
| |
|
|
User-level OS support for Windows 2000/XP, MAC OS X, Windows 2000/2003 Terminal Services |
| |
|
|
Hardware troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance support for PC desktop systems, and laptops |
| |
|
|
Initial setup, support, and troubleshooting VPN client issues |
| |
|
|
Creation and maintenance of ghost images of desktops and laptops |
| |
|
|
New Hire Setup and Employee Moves |
| |
|
|
To provide in-person, remote, phone and e-mail general IT support to clients ; |
| |
|
|
To be technically proficient and demonstrate outstanding customer service ; |
| |
|
|
To proactively solve problems and recommend preventative options to head off future problems; |
| |
|
|
To troubleshoot and find permanent solutions for client issues; and temporary work-arounds when necessary; |
| |
|
|
To work with the team |
| |
|
|
To record hours worked for each client immediately after work is performed in UIS website; |
| |
|
|
To effectively communicate with IT Manager and Clients as to status of work at the beginning of, during and at the end of visit; |
| |
|
|
To attend conference call Staff Meetings each week; and |
| |
|
|
To complete other projects or assignments as given by UIS. |
| |
|
|
|
| |

|
Experience Requirements |
| |
|
|
Minimum of 2 years of IT experience |
| |
|
|
Background in IT consulting for different businesses (a plus) |
| |
|
|
Excellent troubleshooting skills |
| |
|
|
| |
|
Software Requirements |
| |
|
|
Must have strong technical troubleshooting skills supporting products designed for Windows server (Active Directory and NT essential) and workstation network environments |
| |
|
|
Experience supporting Windows 2000 & XP desktops |
| |
|
|
Experience supporting MAC OS X desktops |
| |
|
|
Experience supporting Linux / Unix Desktops (a plus) |
| |
|
|
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Access, Project, Visio) |
| |
|
|
| |
|
Other Skill Requirements |
| |
|
|
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff in difficult or conflictive situations |
| |
|
|
Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively |
| |
|
|
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep abreast of the latest technological advances |

Proficient with online and other resources for software and hardware research and troubleshooting |

|
Emergency On Call Required |
| |
|
|
Travel Required - Must be able to travel around Bay Area, if not the state. Must have reliable transportation with valid registration and insurance. |
